We had a very busy week! Here are the important things we learned...
We explored books and activities about monsters to get ready for Halloween! Here are some of the centers we engaged in...
During Reading, we worked on making making self to text connections and retelling stories. We learned the purpose of and procedures for conferring with me while reading independently. We also talked more about syllables and practiced clapping parts and sorting words by the number of syllables.
In this week’s Second Steps lesson, we learned to use body language and context clues to figure out when someone feels happy. We practiced looking at the person’s face and body, as well as thinking about what’s going on in the situation. Encourage your child to notice when others around them feel happy. Have them practice using body language and context clues to figure out when family members, friends, or characters in books, movies, or on TV might be feeling happy.
In Writing, we wrote stories with the power word "see". We practiced writing from left to write with spaces between each word. We used our word wall to write more words in our stories.
Our Math lessons this focused on comparing numbers using "more than" and "fewer than".
We started learning about continents and oceans in Social Studies. Ask your child to tell you what the names of them are and if they can find any of them on a world map. We will be shifting over to Science next week and will be revisiting our Social Studies unit in a few weeks.
Looking ahead...
Have a great weekend!
