We have had a busy week! Here are some of the important things we learned...
Our thematic unit this week was an author study on David Shannon. We loved reading his books and completing activities during literacy centers.
Our literacy centers included the following:
In this week’s Second Steps lesson, we learned to use body language and context clues to figure out when someone feels sad. We practiced looking at the person’s face and body, as well as thinking about what’s going on in the situation. Encourage your child to notice when others around them feel sad. Have them practice using body language and context clues to figure out when family members, friends, or characters in books, movies, or on TV might be feeling sad.
During Writing, we practiced hearing and discussing a story. We practiced stretching out words and writing each sound that we hear. We added a few more words to our word/sound wall. You can find the power words that we are learning by clicking on the tab above.
We are learning about living and nonliving things in Science. We talked about how living things need food, water, and air and living things move and grow.
We learned about Veteran's Day and talked about it's importance with our fourth grade buddies. Thank you to all who have served!
Looking ahead...
